Better Luck Next Time

New Project

I've been doing print making for years now and I really enjoy it. I'm always looking for new ways to incorporate it into my work.
Recently I've tried engraving my photos into mirror, they look so cool! I want them to be set onto wood bases and have light shining through the engraving. Right now because of budget and what I have to work with the mirror surfacing is on acrylic that I cut down and bevel the edges so they fit together nicely. I'd like to start using actual glass and maybe finally get into foiling like for stained glass, I think it would be a nice upgrade and might look even better when on display. The thing I really need to work on is how I'm going to get the mirrored surface, if I want to work on manufactured mirrors or if the mirror effect gets put onto glass that I cut to size. The later would alow for more experimentation with the surface look, which could be fun for me to play with. But I'll have to see.

I'm still very early in the development process for this series of works so have a lot to take into consideration including the lighting both inside the piece and outside. I've only used white and yellow bulbs so far but I thing they'd be nice with colored light too. I've seen stained glass light bulbs at the hardware store and think that might be cool to experiment with, otherwise there are a plethora of battery operated lights that sometimes even come with a remote!
The imagery is coming from my photography, it's important to me that I use my own imagery and that it resonates with what I'm trying to do. Tho I'm still pinning down the why.

This is going to be a fun change of pace for my work, I'm exited to see where it takes me!
I'll keep you posted!
